A personalized pet book, and your dog is the hero of it.

Illustrated from your photos. Their markings, their face, their expression.

A Whimbel pet portrait book turns your own dog or cat into the main character of an illustrated hardcover storybook — built from your photos, and from the small habits only you would know to mention.

What a personalized dog book does that a photo print cannot

A framed photo shows one second. It does not show the thing your dog does with one ear when the lead comes out, or the exact spot on the sofa that has been theirs since 2019, or how they behave in the ten minutes before a walk. A custom pet book is long enough to hold the habits — which is what people usually mean when they say they want something to remember a pet by.

  • Your pet is the main character, not a background animal — every page is about them
  • Illustrated from your own photos, so the markings, build and face are theirs
  • Built around their real habits and their real routine, in your words
  • Hardcover and printed, so it survives being handled rather than sitting in a folder
  • Works for a pet who is still here and for one who is not

Why it matters

The photos on your phone are almost all of the same three poses. What they are missing is the ordinary weekday version of your dog, which is the version you will want later.

Frequently asked questions

What is a personalized pet book?

An illustrated hardcover storybook in which your own pet is the main character. You upload photos and describe what they are actually like, and the book is written and illustrated around that pet specifically — rather than a stock dog with your pet's name printed onto it.

How is this different from your pet and baby book?

The pet and baby book is a book about a child with the family pet in it as a character. This one is a book about the pet. Different subject, different story. If you want the animal and the child both at the centre, the pet and baby book is the one you want.

Can you make a custom pet book from my photos?

Yes, and a photo is required rather than optional. The illustrations are built from it, which is how the colouring, markings and proportions stay the same from page to page instead of drifting toward a generic version of the breed.

Will it actually look like my dog, or just like the breed?

Like your dog. Breed gets you the silhouette; the photo is what carries the specific face, the markings and the build. That matters most for mixed breeds, and for the two black dogs that every stock illustration renders identically.

Can I make a personalized book about a dog that has died?

Yes, and a fair number of these are exactly that. There is no separate memorial version to pick — you write about the pet you had, and the book ends up being about the years rather than about the ending. Some people make it straight away and some wait a year. Both are normal.

Can I include more than one pet?

Yes. Upload a photo of each and they all appear. Two animals who lived together usually make a better story than one on its own, because most of the good material is about how they dealt with each other.

Does it work for cats, or only dogs?

Both, and for rabbits, horses and most other pets people send us photographs of. The requirement is a clear photo, not a species.
